Santa Barbara

Love on a Leash®

The Santa Barbara Chapter of Love on a Leash was originally founded in May of 2016 and was dormant from 2019-2022 when a group of active members banded together to bring it back. We have a regularly scheduled visit at Mission Ridge Nursing Home and welcome invitations to visit at local hospitals, libraries, and schools, as well as special events. Chapter members visit independently as well as participating in group visits with our chapter and neighboring chapters.

Meet Our Leader

Judy Long lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, Larry, and has four grandchildren who all live close to them. Judy is a retired university professor who continues to write about the psychology of aging. She is also a Hospice volunteer with Hospice of Santa Barbara and has written several plays that have been produced. One of her plays won "Best of Fest," in a Canadian theatre festival. Judy became a therapy team with her Cavapoo, Banjo, in 2019 and enjoys visiting the seniors at Mission Ridge nursing home as well as UCSB's students during midterms and finals week.
