Love on a Leash®

The Durham/Orange chapter of Love on a Leash was officially founded in September of 2012 and included the entire NC Triangle area until the Raleigh chapter was created in October 2022. Our members make regularly scheduled visits at local hospitals, schools, and nursing facilities and welcome invitations to visit at additional nursing facilities and fulfill other special requests. Chapter members visit independently as well as participating in group visits.

Meet Our Leader

Emilie Beglane lives in Durham with her husband and 2 Labrador retrievers. She became a certified Love on a Leash therapy team with her black lab Kylie in 2012. Emilie is a retired pharmacy technician instructor who loves visiting skilled nursing and assisted living residents, and especially enjoys visiting patients through the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program. Emilie’s favorite part about volunteering with Love on a Leash is seeing the smiles on people’s faces when our pets arrive!
