Gulf Breeze

Love on a Leash®

Diana Milam founded the Gulf Breeze chapter in May of 2020. We are located in Northwest Florida and are currently the only chapter in the state; we serve facilities from Navarre to Pensacola. Our teams visit facilities on their own and in groups; most visits are regularly-scheduled group visits where the residents or patients interact with several animals. Facilities currently served include Navarre Gardens (on Hwy 87 and Hwy 98), The Beehive, The Beacon, Baybreeze (Nursing and Rehabilitation and Assisted living), The Arbors, The Camelia, three ARC facilities, Haven of Peace, The Blake, Summer Vista, L & L Executive Adult Care, and Ronald McDonald House in Pensacola. Some of our teams also volunteer at Kids’ House in Milton and are on call for emotional support for children in legal or court settings.

Meet Our Leaders

While working at the NIH in the 1990s, Ute Kent witnessed the incredible support therapy dogs provided to children undergoing chemotherapy. For the past 19 years she has been a member of several pet therapy organizations in Michigan and Florida; all 4 of her therapy dogs have come from a shelter or a rescue. Ute first learned about Love on a Leash in May of 2020 and is now certified with Karah (Border Collie/Heeler mix) and Liam (Border Collie). Ute became co-chapter leader in 2022 and visits primarily in the Navarre and Gulf Breeze area. Nothing is more satisfying than sharing her special dogs with people that are lonely, in pain or just need some unconditional love from one of her furballs.

Pat Gray joined Ute as Gulf Breeze chapter co-leader in early 2023. Pat lives on Navarre Beach with her husband, Courtland, and their beautiful English Cream Golden Retriever, Lexi. Pat is a retired project manager who specialized in apartment construction; because of her background, Pat is quite the do-it-yourselfer! After Lexi's extensive obedience training, her trainer conveyed that pet therapy is a must for Lexi; thanks to her, Pat and Lexi became certified with Love on a Leash. They love visiting assisted living facilities and The Ronald McDonald House and find their visits to abused children's facilities and the juvenile court system to be their most rewarding visits. Pat's favorite pastime is sitting on the beach, reading and watching the waves roll in!
