Love on a Leash®

The Northeast Mississippi chapter of Love on a Leash was officially founded in July of 2009. We have regularly scheduled visits at North Mississippi Medical Center, Sanctuary Hospice, Lee County Eldercare Center, and Traceway Retirement Community. We welcome invitations to visit at local nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, and schools, as well as special events. We love participating in community activities and most recently participated in the Tupelo Christmas parade. Chapter members visit independently as well as participating in group visits.

Meet Our Leader

Lisa Abstein lives in the Tupelo area with her husband and Golden Retriever, Holly. Lisa and Holly became a certified Love on a Leash therapy team in 2019. Lisa especially enjoys visiting the pediatric and rehab units at North Mississippi Medical Center but also loves participating in special community activities that spread awareness of the value of pet therapy. Lisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice who enjoys traveling, especially with her husband and Holly. Her favorite part about volunteering with Love on a Leash is the group fellowship and getting to witness the power of the human-animal connection in action.
