Love on a Leash®

The Omaha chapter of Love on a Leash was officially founded in June of 2015. Our chapter is unique in that members live in two states – most live in Nebraska, but many live across the river in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We have many regularly-scheduled visits, including Boys Town National Research Hospital and Council Bluffs Public Library, and our teams always welcome invitations to visit local nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, and schools. We also participate in Camp Kindness through the Nebraska Humane Society each Summer. Chapter members visit independently as well as participating in group visits.

Meet Our Leaders

Pam Baldwin is a former educator who lives in Omaha; Marty the Goldendoodle is her second Love on a Leash therapy pet. They enjoy visiting schools, as Marty especially loves teachers and kids. Pam's favorite part of volunteering with LOAL is with seeing new teams flourish and developing friendships with other dog people!

Gail Kenkel is a retired educator who lives in Council Bluffs. She and Ozzie love their regular visits, but also enjoy one-time requests, such as de-stressing students during finals week. Businesses and medical centers have also noticed that visits from dog teams bring joy to their staff members. The friendships made with other dog teams are priceless; we all bond over our love of community service and our beloved dogs. Gail loves being a part of LOAL almost as much as she loves Jayhawk basketball!
