Raleigh

Love on a Leash®

The Raleigh Chapter of Love on a Leash was officially founded in October of 2022 as the NC Triangle chapter expanded. We have a regularly scheduled visit at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living and welcome invitations to visit at local nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, and schools, as well as special events. Chapter members visit independently as well as participating in group visits with our chapter and the neighboring Durham/Orange County chapter.

Elizabeth & Cassie

Meet Our Leader

Elizabeth Sandling lives in Raleigh and became a certified Love on a Leash therapy team with her Shetland Sheepdog Nivy in 2014. Nivy was her first therapy dog, and they had eleven wonderful years of visiting together. Elizabeth is now certified with Cassie, also a Sheltie. Elizabeth especially enjoys visiting the seniors at Brighton Gardens but also loves participating in the children's reading program at schools and visiting students on college campuses. Elizabeth is retired from the federal government and the American Kennel Club. She has enjoyed dog sports of agility and rally obedience with her shelties. Her favorite part about volunteering with Love on a Leash is helping new teams to become certified and bringing comfort and smiles to those we visit.
