Rockwall/Royse City

Love on a Leash®

The Rockwall/Royse City chapter was founded in September 2012. Chapter members visit senior assisted living facilities, independent living homes, schools, the Rockwall Boys & Girls Club, libraries, and social events in our communities. Chapter members live in 5 surrounding counties and meet quarterly to discuss business and enjoy social visits with our dogs. Chapter activities are posted on our Facebook page and reminder texts are sent to members before each event. Ongoing training is offered to keep teams’ therapy skills sharp; of course it is completely voluntary and free of charge.

Meet Our Leader

Retha feels her journey with Love on a Leash has been a blessing; she was first certified with Garron Rex, a German Shepherd, in Dec 2011 and she founded the Rockwall/Royse City chapter in 2012. Rex enjoyed pet therapy and retired when he was 12 years old; he crossed the rainbow bridge in the Fall of 2021. Retha is now certified with her English Bulldog, Miss Gertie; she is a wonderful therapy pet and at nearly 9 years old, she’s still sharing smiles and love in her dog stroller. Retired from a long 45 year career in the medical field, and rocking 72 years young, Retha’s hobbies include hanging out with her Diabetic Alert Service dog King, dog training, fishing, attending local dog shows & events, riding her Harley Tri Glide, & spending quality time with her husband of 54 years as well as her grand baby. As an AKC Evaluator, Retha offers the Control Evaluation free of charge to prospective members.
