Triad

Love on a Leash®

The Triad Chapter of Love on a Leash was founded in March 2018 and encompasses Forsyth County and surrounding areas. We have regularly scheduled visits to many assisted living centers, SECU Family House and Wake Forest School of Medicine. In addition, the chapter participates in group visits at the Winston-Salem Police Department and the City of Winston. We also host periodic member socials and participate in community events. Chapter members visit independently as well as participating in group visits and we always welcome invitations to visit!

Meet Our Leaders

Pam Madden became a certified Love on a Leash team in 2015 and co-founded the Triad Love on a Leash chapter in March 2018. Pam lives in Forsyth County and is currently certified with Maggie, a Border Collie, and Sophie, a Great Pyrenees. Pam is in the healthcare field and when not volunteering with Love on a Leash she enjoys being outdoors, shopping, and traveling. Her favorite part of volunteering with Love on a Leash is watching faces light up when people see and interact with the dogs.

Charlene Wellborn became a certified Love on a Leash team in 2015 and co-founded the Triad Love on a Leash chapter in March 2018. Charlene lives in Forsyth County and was certified with Ellie, who crossed the rainbow bridge in November 2023; Ellie did over 400 visits in her 8 years as a therapy dog! Charlene is working with her new dog to follow in Ellie’s pawprints. Charlene is a retired Kindergarten teacher and when she is not volunteering with Love on a Leash she enjoys travel, reading, scrapbooking, and spending time with friends and family (especially her grands). Her favorite part of volunteering with Love on a Leash is seeing the difference the visits make for people, including herself.
